I- JOB TITLE : Clearing Agent
II- THE ROLE
- A Clearing Agent facilitates the smooth import and export of goods by managing customs and related procedures. His role involves ensuring all necessary documentation is in order, coordinating with carriers, and handling shipping and delivery activities.
- Customs Formalities: Ensuring all customs procedures are followed, including import/export licenses and other necessary documentation.
- Documentation: Preparing and submitting required paperwork to customs authorities.
- Coordination: Coordinating with carriers, shipping companies, and other relevant parties.
- Transportation: Arranging transportation of goods from the point of origin to the warehouse or storage facility.
- Storage: Overseeing the loading, unloading, and storage of goods.
- Tariff Classification: Classifying goods according to tariff codes and ensuring correct duty payments.
- Advisory Services: Providing guidance and advice to clients on customs regulations and procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of all clearing activities.
- Compliance: Ensuring all activities are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
- Cost Optimization: Helping clients save time and money by streamlining the clearing process.
- Communication: Interacting with clients, customs officials, and other stakeholders.
- He will act as a liaison between importers/exporters and customs authorities, ensuring a seamless and efficient flow of goods across borders.
III- QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in management or a related field is preferred, especially for those with less 2 years’ experience.
- A specific certificate in customs training from a recognized institution.
- Depending on the level of education a diploma in customs clearance work from an accredited institution with more than 5 years’ experience.
- A strong understanding of customs laws, regulations, and procedures is essential.
- Familiarity with international trade agreements and compliance requirements is also crucial.
