Job Title: TOEFL Test Writer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated TOEFL Test Writer to join our team. As a Test Writer, you will be responsible for developing and creating educational problems and questions specifically tailored for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam. Your role will involve crafting questions that accurately assess the English language proficiency of non-native speakers, ensuring the questions are challenging yet fair and aligned with the TOEFL test format and standards.
Responsibilities:
-Develop and write test questions for the TOEFL exam, focusing on various sections such as reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
-Create educational problems that accurately evaluate the English language proficiency of non-native speakers at different levels, ranging from beginner to advanced.
-Ensure that all test questions adhere to the official TOEFL test format, guidelines, and standards.
-Research and stay updated on the latest trends, techniques, and best practices in language assessment and testing.
-Collaborate with a team of subject matter experts, content developers, and other test writers to review and improve the quality of test questions.
-Conduct item analysis to evaluate the effectiveness and validity of test questions, making necessary revisions and improvements as needed.
-Ensure that all test questions are accurate, clear, and free of errors or bias, and that they effectively measure the desired language skills.
-Maintain a consistent writing style and ensure coherence across all test questions.
-Collaborate with other departments, such as test development and quality assurance, to ensure the smooth execution of test creation and administration processes.
-Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance your understanding of TOEFL test requirements and updates.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in English, linguistics, education, or a related field. A higher degree or certification in language assessment or teaching English as a second language (TESOL) is preferred.
Strong command of the English language, including grammar, vocabulary, and idiomatic expressions.
Familiarity with the TOEFL exam structure, content, and scoring criteria.
Excellent writing skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and engaging test questions.
Understanding of language proficiency levels and the ability to assess language skills effectively.
Attention to detail and accuracy in writing and reviewing test questions.
Strong research skills to gather relevant information and resources for question development.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of educational assessment principles and practices is a plus.
Experience in test writing, content development or language teaching is desirable.
